WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

Meet your Guide at the MASP Museum, located at Paulista Avenue,. The tour starts with a panoramic drive through this historical avenue, created to be the home of the wealthy coffee barons and currently the most symbolic Avenue in the city.

Our next stop will be held at the Municipal Market (Belle époque confection of stained glass and a series of vast domes, specializing in fresh produce and dried goods, a great place to sample classic delights). You´ll have around 30 minutes to discover what is the most traditional food market in São Paulo, a great place to learn more about brazilian goods and its gastronomy.

After that, you´ll head downtown for a brief historical walk, of around 20 minutes, where you´ll visit the exact site where the city was founded. The walk continues passing through the old financial area, where you´ll be able to see the beautiful facades of important companies and banks that were once based in this area of the city.

The tour continues by vehicle, passing by the São Bento monastery (historical Benedictine Neo-Romanesque church), the Martinelli Tower (the first Skyscraper in São Paulo), and Farol Santander (considered the biggest structure of armed concrete in the world, it resembles New York’s “Empire State building")

You’ll also pass by the St. Francis church (18th century church), São Paulo’s Municipal Theater (significant for its architectural value as well as for its historical importance), São Paulo’s Law School (the city’s first established university), the Tea Bridge and City Hall (an imposing building made entirely of travertine marble).

In addition, you’ll drive through several interesting areas such as “Liberdade” (home to the largest Japanese community outside of Japan in the world) and Ibirapuera Park (It’s importance to São Paulo is comparable to that of Central Park to New York City). At the park, a stop of 15 minutes will be held and you´ll go up the top floor of a building to check-out an amazing view of São Paulo.

The last region you´ll visit is Vila Madalena neighborhood (a bohemian area full of art studios and which possesses the best murals in town). This is where the famous Batman´s alley is located, considered to be the craddle of Graffiti and Street Art in São Paulo. At this sight, a stop of 20 minutes will be held.

After visiting all these places, you´ll be driven back to the MASP Museum, where our Tour finishes.
